Bidyasagar Keyboard: Why and how to install

DISCLAIMER: This piece of writing might ignite a fireball of argument. However, I'm keeping a log of my personal choice.
And in *nix world everyone from n00b to Guru are free to use / hack whatever they love.
Perfection is a myth.....

A *nix system is owning something made by self, hacking things for efficiency or at least tweaking things according to
one's need and taste.
A major portion of our time we spend on our work stations writing something -- be it code or pieces of literatures.

There are two major and most popular Bangla keyboards -- Avro and Probhat -- in our community out there that serves most of our
needs, however, I felt some issues with them.

1. As I often use unique slang and spellings like ষ্ণাতুক ও ষ্ণাতুকুত্তুর  ... ঌনাক্স etc. - -popularly known as Modachchheri Bhasha. Avro often let me not do that with her dictionary. Frustrating.... Although hardcore fans would teach me some hacks to fix that issue.

2. Probhat is OK, but my Bangla typing was started with a Nokia Asha 3310 handset-- a Shahbagh activist taught me and inspired
how to compose poems, posts and doing chat keeping pace with a storming brain back in 2013. For typing on PC,
I was looking for a keyboard developed on the basis of letter frequency.

Fortunately, somehow I met a grey haired *nix guru who has developed a keyboard back in that 2013 -- one of
the best years of my life; I'm still nostalgic about that eye opening year -- and the very year came back again in 2019.

Bidyasagar Keyboard

Scopes of Bidyasagar Keyboard:
The keyboard is developed by a self taught linguist and *nix Guru.
The keyboard focuses on keeping frequently used Bangla letters on most easiest accessible positions.
For example: ত ক খ র ভ অ ধ আ etc. are found easily without much efforts.

They keyboard did not follow any existing ones, rather based on frequency and ease of fingers thus they get enough space and rest while typing.

Bangla typing is slower than English -- for her beauty and weight -- yet Bidyasagar Keyboard is fluent to me after a week'seffort ---- At least easy to get the physique.

It serves my daily purpose well. You also can try this !!!

Installation process:

They keyboard is available here:

Link 2

Well, the first documentation on the installation process  is much more dependent on the developer's OS-- Slackware -- afaik.

However, the bottom line is let the X system know from where she can read the keyboard/map. This is much more vendor / distro / DE
specific.

Now it's super simple -- copy the code and save it with a name of your choice -- say bkb -- at

/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/  location, the X keyboard path for Debian based system.

Now this portion depends on the DE.

lxde is my default DE. Right click on panel bar and select 'panel settings'. From 'Panel Applets' select 'Keyboard Layout Handler'
and press 'Add +' button. You would see language sign on the right most corner of the panel bar.
Right click on the language sign and click 'Add +' button. Select the National Flag of Bangladesh. Click 'OK'.

You can change the keybinding to toggle between the languages from 'Change Layout Options' which 'Shift + Caps Lock' on my
system.
